Baja Fresh, Denver: Smoke-Free Policies Don’t Hurt Business

We would like the City to adopt a smoke-free restaurant and bar ordinance.

As the owner of three Baja Fresh quick-casual restaurants in Metro Denver, which opened 18 months ago, we have not ever permitted smoking inside the restaurant. There have been no problems with either customers or business volume.

In fact, I believe that our smoke-free policy provides an environment that our customers and team members value. It is a fresher and cleaner atmosphere. We also don’t expose our team members to secondhand smoke as part of their work conditions.

I was on the California Restaurant Association Board of Directors when the statewide ban on smoking in restaurants and bars went into effect, and there was no noticeable impact on business in restaurants and bars as a result of the ban.
